NextWine pairs a curated catalog of 400+ wines - spanning 230+ grape varieties and 15+ countries - with two ways to discover your next bottle: a short taste quiz and free-text AI recommendations powered by OpenAI. AI access is metered with Stripe credits and rate-limited. Content - wines, articles, authors - is managed in Sanity, while users and saved recommendations live in MongoDB.
Most wine apps either bury you in jargon or pull a bottle at random from a scraped list. NextWine does neither. The AI sommelier reasons only over a hand-curated catalog and tells you why a bottle fits - your steak, your budget, your Tuesday night - so every recommendation comes with its reasoning, not just a name. There are three ways in: a short taste quiz, a free-text prompt, or rich filters across colour, origin, sweetness, ABV and 30+ food pairings, whether you know exactly what you want or nothing at all.
There is no subscription and nothing expires. A few free credits land on sign-up, the ones you buy stay until you use them, and a failed generation refunds itself automatically. Quiz results and AI picks are saved to your profile and shareable by link, so the wine you loved is one tap away next time.
